Eriocaulon parkeri is a delicate and unusual freshwater aquarium plant prized for its fine, grass-like leaves and compact rosette growth. It creates a soft, natural texture that works particularly well in detailed aquascapes and planted aquariums.
Like many Eriocaulon species, it performs best when provided with strong lighting, consistent CO₂ and nutrient-rich substrate. Stable water conditions are particularly important while the plant establishes.
Its compact form makes it well suited to the foreground or midground, where it can be used as a feature plant or planted in small groups.

It is considered an intermediate to advanced aquarium plant. Stable water conditions, good lighting, CO₂ and suitable nutrition will give the best results.
CO₂ is strongly recommended. It helps the plant establish more quickly and encourages healthier, more compact growth.
It is best suited to the foreground or midground, where its fine foliage can provide contrast against broader-leaved plants and hardscape.
A nutrient-rich aquarium substrate is recommended. Good root nutrition is important for establishing healthy growth.
Once established, it can produce side shoots or offsets. These can be separated carefully and replanted.
Adding it to an unstable aquarium
Eriocaulon can be sensitive to sudden changes in water chemistry.
Insufficient lighting
Good lighting is important for maintaining compact, healthy growth.
Skipping CO₂
Although it may survive without added CO₂, consistent supplementation greatly improves growth and establishment.
Planting the crown too deeply
Keep the central growing point above the substrate to prevent the plant from rotting.
Poor root nutrition
Use a quality planted-tank substrate or suitable root fertiliser.
