Aquasonic Methylene Blue

Aquasonic Methylene Blue is a liquid aquarium treatment formulated to address mild fungal and superficial bacterial infections in freshwater and marine fish. It is particularly effective as a prophylactic against fungal infections on fish eggs, making it a valuable tool in breeding setups. Additionally, it aids in the treatment and control of white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and other superficial fungal infections. The recommended dosage is 5 mL per 20 liters of aquarium water, administered daily for four days. For egg protection, a dosage of 1 mL per 10 liters is advised. Methylene Blue is less toxic than some other treatments, such as malachite green or formalin, but may cause staining of aquarium equipment and can adversely affect beneficial bacteria in biological filters. It is essential to remove activated carbon from the filtration system during treatment and to avoid overdosing, as it can be toxic to plant life at higher concentrations. This treatment is not suitable for fish intended for human consumption.
