Aquasonic Ichonex

Aquasonic Ichonex is a liquid medication formulated to treat white spot disease (Ichthyophthirius multifiliis) and velvet disease in freshwater aquariums. It contains copper sulfate and malachite green, which are effective in controlling these parasitic infections. The treatment is designed to be used without the toxic effects and staining associated with conventional treatments. It is important to note that the copper component is more toxic at low pH levels, so it is recommended to maintain a pH above 7.5 during treatment. Additionally, raising the water temperature by 2–3°C can help shorten the life cycle of the parasite, enhancing the effectiveness of the treatment. To maximize results, the daily dosage should be divided and added to the tank twice daily. As with all treatments, ensure the aquarium water is well aerated and avoid using activated carbon in the filtration system during treatment, as it can remove the medication from the water.
