About Tuxedo Damsel
The Tuxedo Damsel is a striking small marine fish recognised for its bold blue and black colouration, giving it the distinctive appearance that inspires its common name. Its compact size and vibrant colour make it an attractive addition to marine and reef aquariums.
Tuxedo Damsels are active, hardy fish that spend much of their time around live rock and coral structures. They are relatively peaceful for a damselfish but can become territorial, particularly when establishing a preferred cave or spawning area.
Providing plenty of rockwork, hiding places and visual barriers allows them to establish territories and helps reduce aggression.
They are omnivorous and readily accept quality marine pellets, flakes, mysis shrimp, enriched brine shrimp and other appropriately sized frozen foods.
Tuxedo Damsels are generally reef safe and will normally leave corals and larger ornamental invertebrates alone.

Common Mistakes
Underestimating damselfish territorial behaviour
Even relatively peaceful damsels can become more territorial as they mature.
Keeping too many in a small aquarium
Limited territory can lead to persistent chasing and aggression.
Not providing enough rockwork
Caves and crevices give them places to retreat and establish territory.
Keeping them with very timid fish
Territorial behaviour may stress extremely passive tank mates.
Overfeeding
Feed controlled portions and maintain excellent water quality.
