Myriophyllum sp. 'Guyana' is a delicate, fine-leaved stem plant that brings excellent texture and movement to a planted aquarium. Its finely divided foliage forms dense, feathery shoots, creating a soft and natural appearance that works beautifully in detailed aquascapes.
With good lighting and CO₂, Myriophyllum Guyana can develop attractive green to reddish growth, particularly toward the growing tips. Its fine texture makes it an excellent contrast against broad-leaved plants and hardscape.
This variety is best suited to the midground or background and looks particularly impressive when planted as a dense group. Regular trimming encourages branching and helps maintain a compact, bushy appearance.
It is relatively fast growing when conditions are favourable and responds very well to stable CO₂, good circulation and consistent fertilisation.
It can grow without injected CO₂, but CO₂ supplementation is highly recommended for faster growth, denser foliage and better colour.
Strong lighting, stable CO₂ and balanced fertilisation can encourage warmer red and pink tones, particularly in the new growth.
It works best in the midground or background, particularly when planted in groups to create a dense, textured display.
Under good conditions, Myriophyllum Guyana can grow quickly and will benefit from regular trimming.
Cut healthy stems and replant the tops directly into the substrate. The remaining stems will generally produce new side shoots.
Insufficient light, unstable CO₂, nutrient deficiencies or excessive shading can result in weaker, more open growth.
