Anubias Pinto is a highly sought-after variegated aquarium plant recognised for its attractive green leaves patterned with creamy white and pale yellow markings. Each leaf can display a different pattern, making every plant unique and adding a beautiful feature to freshwater aquascapes.
This slow-growing plant is generally considered an excellent choice for beginners. It tolerates a wide range of aquarium conditions and performs well under low to moderate lighting. Strong lighting is not required and may encourage algae growth on the slow-growing leaves.
Anubias Pinto is a rhizome plant, meaning the thick horizontal rhizome should remain above the substrate. It can be attached to rocks, driftwood or other hardscape using aquarium-safe glue or thread. Once established, its roots will anchor naturally.
CO₂ is not essential, although supplementation can support healthier growth. Patience is important, as new leaves develop slowly.

No. Anubias Pinto grows well without injected CO₂, although additional CO₂ may encourage healthier growth.
The roots can be planted, but the rhizome must remain above the substrate. Burying the rhizome can cause it to rot.
No. Low to moderate lighting is usually ideal. Excessive lighting may encourage algae growth on the leaves.
Slow growth is normal for Anubias varieties. Stable water conditions, suitable nutrients and patience will help it establish.
Use aquarium-safe glue, fishing line or thread to secure the plant to hardscape. Avoid covering or damaging the rhizome.
Variegation is genetic, but healthy growth depends on stable conditions and suitable lighting. Individual leaves may naturally show different amounts of white.
❌ Burying the rhizome in the substrate
❌ Using excessively strong lighting
❌ Expecting rapid growth
❌ Covering the rhizome with glue or substrate
❌ Allowing algae to build up on the leaves
❌ Constantly moving the plant before it establishes
