The Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp is one of the most popular and striking freshwater shrimp available, admired for its rich sapphire-blue to deep cobalt colouration. High-grade Blue Dream Shrimp display an intense, opaque blue body from head to tail, creating a stunning contrast against lush green plants, driftwood, and dark aquascaping materials.
A selectively bred variety of Neocaridina davidi, the Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp is renowned for its hardiness, peaceful nature, and ease of care. These active shrimp spend their day grazing on algae, biofilm, and organic matter found on plants, rocks, driftwood, and aquarium glass, helping to naturally maintain a clean and healthy aquarium.
Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp thrive in mature planted aquariums with mosses, fine-leaved plants, botanicals, and plenty of hiding places. Stable water conditions and an established aquarium rich in biofilm are essential for healthy moulting and successful breeding. Their peaceful temperament makes them ideal for shrimp-only aquariums or community tanks with Ember Tetras, Chili Rasboras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, Medaka, and Blue-eye Rainbowfish.
A varied diet of premium shrimp pellets, algae wafers, spirulina, Indian Almond Leaves, mulberry leaves, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods such as baby brine shrimp will promote vibrant colouration, healthy moulting, and strong breeding success.
Hardy, colourful, and endlessly entertaining, the Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp is an outstanding choice for planted aquariums, aquascapes, and freshwater shrimp colonies.

Yes. Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp are hardy, adaptable, and one of the easiest freshwater shrimp to keep, making them an excellent choice for beginners.
They feed on biofilm, algae, premium shrimp pellets, algae wafers, spirulina, Indian Almond Leaves, mulberry leaves, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods.
Yes. They are best kept with peaceful nano fish such as Ember Tetras, Rasboras, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, Medaka, and Blue-eye Rainbowfish. Avoid larger or predatory fish that may prey on shrimp.
Yes. They breed readily in freshwater aquariums with stable water conditions. Females carry eggs beneath their abdomen for approximately 3–4 weeks before miniature shrimp hatch.
They can, but different Neocaridina davidi colour varieties will interbreed. Over time, this often results in wild-type brown offspring. To maintain the brilliant blue colouration, Blue Dream Shrimp should be kept in a dedicated colony.
Blue Dream Cherry Shrimp will interbreed with other Neocaridina colour morphs, reducing the purity of the blue colour line over future generations.
Always introduce shrimp to a mature, fully cycled aquarium with abundant natural biofilm.
Rapid fluctuations in temperature, pH, or hardness can cause stress and moulting problems. Slow acclimation is essential.
Mosses, shrimp caves, driftwood, and dense planting provide shelter during moulting and improve the survival of young shrimp.
Feed sparingly and allow shrimp to graze naturally throughout the aquarium. Excess food can quickly reduce water quality.

This animal has been hand-selected, acclimated and inspected before sale. We still recommend acclimating slowly at home - inverts are sensitive to sudden parameter swings. Our team is happy to talk you through the right setup - just ask.
