About Floating Bamboo
Floating Bamboo, commonly known as Lucky Bamboo, is a hardy ornamental plant often used to create a unique, natural look in freshwater aquariums and paludariums. While not a true aquatic plant, it grows exceptionally well with its roots submerged in water while the stems and leaves remain above the surface. This makes it an excellent choice for open-top aquariums, ripariums, and aquascapes where it can add height, greenery, and a tropical appearance.
Floating Bamboo develops an extensive root system that provides excellent shelter for shrimp, fish fry, and beneficial microorganisms. As it grows, the roots absorb nitrates and other dissolved nutrients from the water, helping to improve water quality and reduce algae growth.
This versatile plant thrives in bright, indirect light and requires only minimal maintenance. It pairs beautifully with floating plants, driftwood, and natural hardscape, making it a favourite among aquascapers and freshwater aquarium enthusiasts.
