Description

Foggy Mountain Rock is a natural-looking aquascaping stone designed to create dramatic hardscape formations in freshwater aquariums. Its rugged texture and irregular shapes make it particularly effective for creating mountain-style layouts, rocky slopes and natural-looking formations.

The textured surface provides plenty of visual depth and can be combined with aquarium plants such as Bucephalandra, Anubias and Java Fern. Smaller pieces can also be positioned around larger rocks to create a more natural transition between the hardscape and substrate.

Foggy Mountain Rock works especially well in Iwagumi-inspired, nature-style and mountain-themed aquascapes. Each individual piece will naturally vary in shape, size, texture and colour, making every aquascape unique.

Always rinse aquarium rocks thoroughly before use and arrange larger pieces securely to prevent movement or collapse.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Foggy Mountain Rock safe for aquariums?

It is intended for aquarium aquascaping. As with any natural rock, rinse it thoroughly before adding it to the aquarium.

Does Foggy Mountain Rock affect water parameters?

The effect depends on the mineral composition of individual pieces. If maintaining sensitive water parameters, test your aquarium water after introducing new rock.

Can I use Foggy Mountain Rock in a planted aquarium?

Yes. It can be used alongside a wide range of freshwater aquarium plants and provides excellent hardscape for attaching epiphytic plants.

Can plants be attached to the rock?

Yes. Anubias, Bucephalandra and Java Fern can be attached to the surface using aquarium-safe glue or suitable thread.

Will every piece look the same?

No. Natural rock varies in shape, size, texture and colour, so each piece will have its own appearance.

How should I prepare the rock?

Rinse it thoroughly to remove loose dust and debris before placing it into the aquarium.

Common Mistakes

  • Adding rock without thoroughly rinsing it first.
  • Building unstable formations that can collapse.
  • Placing heavy rocks directly against aquarium glass.
  • Expecting every piece to have the same shape or colour.
  • Ignoring potential changes to water chemistry with natural stone.
  • Using household cleaners or chemicals on aquarium rock.
