The Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp is a premium high-grade variety of Neocaridina davidi, prized for its intense, solid canary-yellow colouration. Unlike standard Yellow Cherry Shrimp, Ultra Yellow specimens exhibit a rich, opaque yellow body from head to tail with minimal translucency, making them one of the brightest and most eye-catching freshwater shrimp available.
Perfect for planted aquariums and aquascapes, Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp create a stunning contrast against dark substrates, lush green plants, driftwood, and natural hardscape. These peaceful shrimp are constantly active, grazing on algae, biofilm, and organic matter while helping to maintain a clean and healthy aquarium.
Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp thrive in mature aquariums with mosses, fine-leaved plants, botanicals, driftwood, and plenty of hiding places. A stable, fully cycled aquarium rich in natural biofilm is essential for healthy moulting and successful breeding. They are excellent companions for peaceful nano fish including Ember Tetras, Chili Rasboras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, Medaka, and Blue-eye Rainbowfish.
A varied diet of premium shrimp pellets, algae wafers, spirulina, Indian Almond Leaves, mulberry leaves, blanched spinach, zucchini, and occasional protein-rich foods such as baby brine shrimp will promote vibrant colouration, healthy moulting, and successful breeding.
Hardy, brilliantly coloured, and easy to care for, the Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp is an outstanding addition to shrimp colonies, planted aquariums, and freshwater aquascapes.

Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp are selectively bred for a deeper, more solid, and opaque yellow colour, while standard Yellow Cherry Shrimp often display lighter or more translucent yellow tones.
Yes. Like other Neocaridina shrimp, they are hardy, adaptable, and an excellent choice for beginner shrimp keepers.
They feed on biofilm, algae, premium shrimp pellets, algae wafers, spirulina, Indian Almond Leaves, mulberry leaves, blanched vegetables, and occasional protein-rich foods.
Yes. They do well with peaceful nano fish such as Ember Tetras, Rasboras, Pygmy Corydoras, Otocinclus, Medaka, and Blue-eye Rainbowfish. Avoid larger or predatory fish that may prey on shrimp.
Yes. They breed readily in freshwater aquariums with stable water conditions. Females carry eggs beneath their abdomen for approximately 3–4 weeks before fully formed juvenile shrimp hatch.
Ultra Yellow Cherry Shrimp will interbreed with other Neocaridina davidi colour morphs. Over time, this often produces wild-type brown offspring and reduces the purity of the yellow colour line.
Always introduce shrimp to a mature, fully cycled aquarium with abundant natural biofilm.
Rapid changes in pH, temperature, or hardness can cause stress and moulting issues. Slow acclimation is essential.
Mosses, shrimp caves, driftwood, and dense planting provide shelter during moulting and improve juvenile survival.
Feed sparingly and allow shrimp to graze naturally between meals. Excess food can quickly reduce water quality.

This animal has been hand-selected, acclimated and inspected before sale. We still recommend acclimating slowly at home - inverts are sensitive to sudden parameter swings. Our team is happy to talk you through the right setup - just ask.
