The Snowflake Moray Eel is one of the most popular marine morays, recognised for its cream to yellow body covered in intricate brown and black spots, blotches and snowflake-like markings. Its unusual appearance and fascinating behaviour make it an excellent feature animal for a large marine aquarium.

Despite their intimidating appearance, Snowflake Morays are generally peaceful towards appropriately sized fish and spend much of their time hiding among rockwork, emerging to explore and feed.

They are powerful predators with excellent escape abilities, so an aquarium must have secure rockwork and a tightly fitted lid. They may prey on smaller fish, shrimp, crabs and other crustaceans.

Snowflake Morays are best kept in mature marine systems with plenty of caves and crevices. They are not suitable for reef aquariums containing valuable ornamental crustaceans.
