Description

The Super Yellow Ram is a stunning colour variant of the popular German Blue Ram, prized for its vibrant golden-yellow body and peaceful temperament. Selectively bred for its intense yellow coloration, this South American dwarf cichlid makes a beautiful centrepiece for planted aquariums and peaceful community tanks.

Super Yellow Rams thrive in warm, clean, stable water and appreciate heavily planted aquariums with driftwood, rocks, and shaded areas to explore. Despite belonging to the cichlid family, they are generally peaceful and can be kept with other calm tropical fish such as tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, and small peaceful gouramis.

They are omnivores and benefit from a varied diet of quality pellets, frozen foods, and live foods to maintain their brilliant colours and overall health. While suitable for intermediate aquarists due to their sensitivity to poor water quality, a well-maintained aquarium will reward owners with fascinating behaviour and even breeding displays.

Yes. They are happiest as a compatible male and female pair or individually in peaceful community aquariums.

Common Mistakes

  • Keeping them in water below 26°C for extended periods.
  • Housing them with aggressive or boisterous fish.
  • Allowing ammonia or nitrite to accumulate due to poor maintenance.
  • Feeding only one type of food instead of a varied diet.
  • Adding them to immature or unstable aquariums.
