The Torpedo Barb, also known as the Denison Barb, Roseline Shark, or Red Line Torpedo Barb, is one of the most striking freshwater fish available. Native to the fast-flowing rivers and streams of the Western Ghats in southern India, this beautiful species is admired for its streamlined silver body, bold black lateral stripe, vibrant red line running from the snout through the eye, and flashes of yellow and black on the tail.

An energetic and highly active schooling fish, the Torpedo Barb spends much of its time cruising the middle levels of the aquarium. As they mature, their colours intensify, creating a spectacular display when kept in large groups. Their peaceful temperament makes them an excellent choice for large community aquariums with similarly active species.

Torpedo Barbs thrive in spacious aquariums with strong filtration, moderate water movement, high oxygen levels, and plenty of open swimming space. They appreciate planted aquariums with driftwood and rocks while still allowing long stretches for schooling. They are excellent companions for Rainbowfish, Congo Tetras, Giant Danios, larger Rasboras, peaceful Loaches, Corydoras, and other active community fish.

A varied diet of premium tropical pellets, quality flakes, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, insect larvae, and vegetable-based foods will maintain their brilliant colouration and excellent health.
