Description

About the Albino Pristella Tetra

The Albino Pristella Tetra is a beautiful colour variant of the popular X-Ray Tetra, recognised for its pale golden-white body, striking red eyes, and translucent fins with subtle yellow, white, and black markings. Peaceful, hardy, and highly active, this attractive schooling fish is an excellent choice for beginner and experienced aquarists alike.

Native to the coastal river systems of South America, the Albino Pristella Tetra adapts well to a wide range of water conditions, making it one of the most forgiving tetra species available. They are happiest when kept in schools of at least six, although groups of ten or more create a spectacular display of natural schooling behaviour.

These peaceful fish thrive in planted aquariums with open swimming space and are compatible with other community species including Corydoras, rasboras, rainbowfish, dwarf gouramis, peaceful cichlids, and livebearers. A varied diet of quality flakes, micro pellets, frozen foods, and occasional live foods will help maintain their health and vibrant appearance.

Common Mistakes

Keeping too few fish

Albino Pristella Tetras are schooling fish and should always be kept in groups.

Housing with aggressive tank mates

Avoid large or aggressive fish that may bully these peaceful tetras.

Poor water quality

Although hardy, they still require regular water changes and stable water parameters.

Overfeeding

Feed small amounts once or twice daily to prevent excess waste and maintain water quality.

Not providing enough swimming space

These active fish enjoy open areas where they can school together naturally.
