The Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami is one of the most vibrant freshwater fish available, renowned for its brilliant electric blue colouration accented with vivid red highlights. A selectively bred colour variety of the Dwarf Gourami, this peaceful species is an ideal centrepiece for planted aquariums and community tanks.

Native to slow-moving rivers and wetlands of South Asia, the Neon Blue Dwarf Gourami prefers heavily planted aquariums with gentle water flow and floating plants. Their unique labyrinth organ allows them to breathe atmospheric oxygen, meaning they are often seen swimming to the surface for a breath of air.

Generally peaceful, they are excellent companions for tetras, rasboras, Corydoras, kuhli loaches, peaceful rainbowfish, and other calm tropical species. Males display the brightest colours and may become mildly territorial towards other male gouramis in smaller aquariums.

A varied diet of quality micro pellets, flakes, frozen bloodworms, brine shrimp, daphnia, and occasional live foods will help maintain their spectacular colouration and overall health.
