About the Glowlight Danio
The Glowlight Danio is a stunning nano schooling fish celebrated for its vibrant metallic blue body, glowing orange stripes, and constantly active personality. Native to the fast-flowing streams of northern Myanmar, this beautiful Danio brings endless movement and brilliant colour to planted aquariums and peaceful freshwater community tanks.
Despite its small size, the Glowlight Danio is one of the most eye-catching members of the Danio family. Its electric blue iridescence is complemented by vivid orange horizontal stripes and bright orange fins, creating an incredible display when kept in a large school. Their energetic nature means they are almost always on the move, making them a fantastic feature in aquascaped aquariums.
Glowlight Danios thrive in well-planted aquariums with moderate water movement, open swimming areas, and excellent water quality. They should always be kept in groups of at least eight, where they display natural schooling behaviour and become more confident. Their peaceful temperament makes them ideal companions for Celestial Pearl Danios, Ember Tetras, Corydoras, Rasboras, Pencilfish, Otocinclus, Kuhli Loaches, and freshwater shrimp.
A varied diet of premium nano pellets, crushed flakes, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, microworms, cyclops, and other live or frozen foods will maximise their vibrant colours and maintain excellent health.
Hardy, colourful, and constantly active, the Glowlight Danio is an outstanding choice for planted aquariums and nano community tanks.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many Glowlight Danios should I keep?
Glowlight Danios are schooling fish and should be kept in groups of at least 8, although schools of 10–15 create a much more impressive display.
Are Glowlight Danios peaceful?
Yes. They are peaceful, active fish that make excellent companions for other small community species.
What do Glowlight Danios eat?
They thrive on premium nano pellets, crushed flakes, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, microworms, cyclops, and other live or frozen foods.
Can Glowlight Danios live with shrimp?
Yes. They are generally safe with adult Cherry Shrimp and Amano Shrimp. Very small shrimplets may occasionally be eaten.
Why are my Glowlight Danios losing colour?
Stress, poor water quality, inadequate nutrition, or keeping too few fish can reduce their vibrant colours. Stable water conditions, a varied diet, and larger schools help maintain their brilliant appearance.
Common Mistakes
Keeping them in small groups
Glowlight Danios become less confident and lose their natural schooling behaviour when kept in insufficient numbers.
Poor water quality
Excellent filtration and regular water changes are essential for healthy, active fish.
Feeding oversized foods
Their small mouths require fine pellets, crushed flakes, and appropriately sized live or frozen foods.
Keeping them with large aggressive fish
Choose peaceful community species that won't intimidate these small, active fish.
Providing too little swimming space
Although small, Glowlight Danios are energetic swimmers and appreciate open areas alongside dense planting.
