Every fish passes through our dedicated quarantine system and strict biosecurity monitoring before sale - so it arrives healthy, settled and ready to thrive. How we quarantine →
The Gold Panchax Killifish, also known as the Golden Wonder Killifish, is a striking freshwater surface-dwelling fish renowned for its brilliant metallic gold body, iridescent blue-green eyes, and streamlined appearance. A selectively bred colour variety of Aplocheilus lineatus, this hardy and active species is an excellent choice for aquarists looking for a unique feature fish.
Native to India and Sri Lanka, Gold Panchax Killifish naturally inhabit slow-moving rivers, ponds, and wetlands where they hunt insects and other small prey from the water's surface. In the aquarium, they thrive in well-planted tanks with floating plants, open swimming areas, and a secure-fitting lid, as they are exceptional jumpers.
While generally peaceful with fish of similar size, Gold Panchax Killifish are opportunistic predators and should not be kept with very small fish or shrimp that may fit into their mouths. They readily accept quality floating pellets, frozen foods, insects, and live foods. Their hardiness, vibrant colouration, and fascinating surface-dwelling behaviour make them a standout addition to larger community aquariums.
