The Zombie Snail is an excellent sand-bed scavenger and a popular addition to marine clean-up crews. These active snails spend much of their time buried beneath the sand, emerging quickly when they detect food.

Unlike algae-grazing snails, Nassarius Snails are primarily scavengers, feeding on leftover food, meaty debris and other organic matter within the substrate. Their constant movement through the sand also helps keep the substrate aerated and prevents waste from accumulating in stagnant areas.

They are peaceful, reef compatible and particularly useful in aquariums with a healthy sand bed. Provide an appropriately deep sand substrate where they can burrow and forage naturally.

Overfeeding

Excess food can lead to unnecessary nutrient accumulation and water-quality problems.

Keeping them with predators

Large predatory fish and some crabs may prey on Nassarius Snails.
