About the Paraguay Tetra
The Paraguay Tetra is a lively and attractive freshwater schooling fish native to the Paraguay and Paraná River systems of South America. Known for its shimmering silver body, subtle golden sheen, and flashes of red and orange in the fins, this active tetra brings constant movement and colour to community aquariums.
This species thrives in planted aquariums with open swimming areas and appreciates gentle water flow that mimics its natural habitat. Paraguay Tetras are peaceful by nature but are energetic swimmers, making them ideal companions for other active community fish such as rasboras, Corydoras, rainbowfish, danios, and larger tetra species.
Like all schooling fish, they should be kept in groups of at least six, although schools of ten or more provide the most natural behaviour and create an impressive display.
