Description

About the Tiger Endler Guppy

The Tiger Endler Guppy is a spectacular selectively bred variety of the Endler Livebearer, admired for its vivid orange, yellow, and green body accented with bold black tiger-like stripes. Combined with iridescent metallic markings and an energetic personality, this stunning nano fish is a favourite among livebearer enthusiasts and aquascapers alike.

Originating from Poecilia wingei, the Tiger Endler retains the compact size, hardiness, and active nature of wild Endlers while displaying enhanced colours through selective breeding. Males develop the striking tiger pattern and brilliant metallic highlights, while females are larger with a more subdued silver appearance.

Tiger Endler Guppies thrive in densely planted aquariums with open swimming areas and stable water conditions. Their peaceful temperament makes them ideal companions for Corydoras, small Rasboras, Ember Tetras, Celestial Pearl Danios, Otocinclus, and freshwater shrimp. Like all Endlers, they are prolific livebearers and reproduce readily in the home aquarium.

A varied diet of premium micro pellets, crushed flakes, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, and other live or frozen foods will maximise their vivid colours and support healthy growth and breeding.

Compact, colourful, and full of personality, the Tiger Endler Guppy is an exceptional addition to nano aquariums, planted tanks, and freshwater community aquariums.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Tiger Endler Guppy?

The Tiger Endler Guppy is a selectively bred Endler featuring bold black tiger-like stripes over vibrant orange, yellow, and green colours, creating one of the most striking Endler varieties available.

Are Tiger Endler Guppies good for beginners?

Yes. They are hardy, peaceful, and easy to care for, making them an excellent choice for both beginners and experienced aquarists.

What do Tiger Endler Guppies eat?

They thrive on premium micro pellets, crushed flakes, baby brine shrimp, daphnia, cyclops, and other live or frozen foods.

Can Tiger Endler Guppies live with shrimp?

Yes. Adult Cherry Shrimp and Amano Shrimp are generally safe, although newly hatched shrimplets may occasionally be eaten.

Can Tiger Endlers breed with Guppies?

Yes. Tiger Endlers can hybridise with Common Guppies (Poecilia reticulata). If you wish to maintain a pure Endler bloodline, they should be kept separately.

Common Mistakes

Mixing them with Common Guppies

Tiger Endlers readily hybridise with Common Guppies, reducing the purity of the bloodline.

Keeping too few fish

Endlers are social fish and display their best behaviour when kept in groups.

Poor water quality

Stable water conditions, regular maintenance, and efficient filtration are essential for vibrant colours and long-term health.

Overfeeding

Feed small portions once or twice daily to prevent obesity and maintain excellent water quality.

Housing with aggressive fish

Avoid large cichlids or fin-nipping species that may stress or injure these small, peaceful fish.
