K14 Wine Red Shrimp are a premium grade of Wine Red Crystal Shrimp, prized for their deep wine-red coloration and strong, clean white markings. The “K14” designation generally refers to a high-grade selectively bred line with particularly intense colour and desirable patterning.

These shrimp are best suited to established, stable aquariums with soft, slightly acidic water. Like other high-grade Caridina, they are more sensitive to fluctuating parameters than common Neocaridina shrimp. A mature planted or shrimp-specific aquarium with active substrate, gentle filtration and plenty of biofilm provides the best environment.

K14 Wine Reds are peaceful and work especially well in dedicated shrimp colonies where their colour and breeding quality can be maintained.

FAQ

What does K14 mean?

K14 is a grading/line designation used for particularly high-quality Wine Red shrimp. Exact grading terminology can vary between breeders, so individual colour and pattern may differ.

Can K14 Wine Red Shrimp breed in freshwater?

Yes. They complete their entire lifecycle in freshwater and can establish breeding colonies when water conditions are stable.

Can they live with fish?

They can, but a shrimp-only aquarium is preferable. Many fish will eat shrimplets even if they leave adult shrimp alone.

What should they eat?

A varied diet of natural biofilm, quality shrimp foods and occasional vegetable or protein-based foods works well. Avoid overfeeding.

Common Mistakes

Avoid keeping K14 Wine Reds in hard or alkaline water, making large sudden water changes, introducing them to immature aquariums, or allowing temperature and TDS to fluctuate rapidly. Copper-containing medications can also be dangerous to shrimp.
